In 1925, Julien Viard designed a crystal masterpiece for the Perfume House Isabey, called “Bleu de Chine” evoking a universe of painted crystal, flowers, and dark amethyst. Only a few pieces, considered collectors’ items, remain today; one of them is housed in the Museum of Perfume in Grasse, France. That same year, Ludwig Moser, along with a Crystal Master from Karlsbad, designed another bottle—dark amethyst with hand-painted patterns, in a lozenge shape.
When the decision was made to produce a contemporary version, the original name could not be used, as it had since been registered by another company. However, the spirit of “Bleu de Chine” was preserved by creating an exceptional scent, housed in a bottle treated with a unique process known as “Sublimation.” The dark blue color has been retained in the new edition.
